Food preparation

An alternative concept in preservation packaging for fresh food produce.

The new iPreserve bags and films were developed by UnderRaps Pty Ltd under licence from Preserve Wrap Pty Ltd. These PE (Poly Ethylene) bags and films provide both antimicrobial protection, inhibiting the growth of dangerous bacteria and helping prevent cross-contamination, as well as neutralising atmospheric pollutant gases within the packaging, thereby potentially extending the shelf life on a variety of food groups, including fruit and vegetables, chilled meats and seafood.

Compared with some existing plastic films, early trials have shown that iPreserve bags & films provide an opportunity to maintain a higher degree of freshness throughout the supply chain, from ‘paddock to plate’. This new food packaging technology could provide a key to extending the useable life of fresh food products, enabling the consumer to feel more confident about the products they’re purchasing…this allows for a longer supply chain and can reduce food waste through spoilage before use.

Whilst our preliminary research has only scratched the surface, we invite industry players, large & small, who have an interest in potentially extending the shelf life of their fresh produce to contact us for more information.

We will endeavour to take a holistic approach to the design process of your packaging system (primary, secondary, tertiary) to ensure that it will optimise the shelf life extension offered by iPreserve technology.

For food processing sectors, targeted packaging solutions would be considered to meet individual requirements for product protection, ventilation, and ripening. iPreserve film technology can be integrated with existing packaging processes, such as moisture absorbers, oxygen scavengers or MAP packs, which are currently used successfully to control conditions.
