Substantive Microbial Reduction

Antimicrobial copper alloys are the first metallic touch surface materials registered by the EPA to continuously kill greater than 99.9% of bacteria* that cause hospital acquired infections and degrade hygiene in hospitals.

How copper ‘contact kills’

Whilst the exact technique by which copper kills bacteria is still being studied, the laboratory data provides compelling evidence of copper surfaces causing bacteria and viruses to die.

Their DNA and RNA are destroyed so a bacteria or virus cannot mutate, become resistant to copper, or pass on genes to other microbes leading to resistance.
